Please help! I have a headless Christmas tree.

I've worked and worked today to get my Christmas tree decorated (including an emergency trip to Hobby Lobby for garlands for my mantel) and I simply cannot figure out what to put on top of the tree that is big enough. My two tree toppers are too small. I've used a bow in the past but I've never been real happy with that... mainly because I don't know how to tie a pretty bow. Any suggestions??? "Easy" is the by-word.

Oh, you want to see my mantel? Well, mind you we have just finished our "redo" and I have not bought a new fireplace grill yet. Those are a little tough to find in deep South Texas. But I actually saw one at Target that might... might work.

Oh, you want to see my mantel? Where here it is, photographed with my iPhone... so not too clear. It is much brighter than it looks. But thanks to Hobby Lobby, I have a new look for the fireplace this year. (I'm think about a broad gold ribbon woven through it might look nice.)

Hi Karen,
If you want a large bow, I'll be glad to make it for you.

Your tree is so pretty and love your mantel! Oh I think a bow would look perfect! I'm waiting for pictures of your village!

Your tree looks lovely! How about an Angel trimmed in Gold? I am bow impaired too so I know what you mean! Cindy

Your tree and mantel are both stunning. I love them. How about a huge Christmas Ornament Ball for the topper. I saw some really big ones at HL. Love it. Also, to make a big bow just get your ribbon and make as many loops as you want and then squish the ribbon in the middle and secure with some small wire. Then make a loop around the wire and secure with hot glue. Add the streamers hot glued to the bow and you're done. That's a really easy bow. Hugs, Marty

Make a birds nest out of some moss or buy one at the craft store. Put in an elegant bird.
Lock up the cat.
Seriously you can make a rough, rustic looking nest out of lots of things. Keep it casual and natural looking.

Okay, I am off to "HL"... aka "Mecca". JB, my niece has offered to come make a bow for me.. thanks! I am going to get plenty of ribbon as I'm sure I'll make a mistake somewhere...
Thanks to Marty for recommending that wonderful blog on bow-making. Can't wait to give it a try!!
Thanks to everyone!
Have a blessed day.

Karen,
I love the mantel & the garland you got is awesome, really full & rich looking. About the topper, I like the idea of the nest that Lori suggested. It looked like that might go with your garland. If your husband is a hunter how about a big bird of some sort in the nest? Lisa
PS I LOVE your bowl post. It reminded me of one we made popcorn in!

My niece is making a hug bow for the tree... possibly wrapped around a goldish spire. The ribbons are red and gold. We'll see... might be too much.
