The Christmas Story

A Christmas Story is also one of my favorites. I actually have the CD (or is it called a DVD???). It is a period of time that I remember, although I cannot recall actually hearing the year that the story takes place. I particularly like the parade as it reminds me so much of a parade my parents took me to as a five year old in Midland, Texas. The department store also reminds me of stores probably located in Midland or possibly Austin, Texas. The classroom brings back the smell of paste, old wood floors and boys' smelly shoes. If you haven't watched it, you're missing out!

"The Wizard of Oz"

My favorite movie when I was growing up was "The Wizard of Oz". It was scary, colorful and magical. Judy Garland was so cute too. Later when I read about how she won the role over Shirley Temple it was surprising to me. As much as I loved Shirley, it had to be Judy to play the part of Dorothy. Those flying monkeys were terribly frightening and I swear I still get a creepy feeling when I watch that movie... which I do at least once a year.
I actually met one of the Munchkins last year on a tour of Judy Garland's childhood home in Minnesota. I took a friend along to tour the Judy Garland museum with me and I even bought an old Wizard of Oz book... which I found out later wasn't very old. Oh well...
So how did you feel about "The Wizard of Oz"?

Parties at Rancho Don Pedro

One of the first parties at Rancho Don Pedro was for my little granddaughter's third birthday. She was so excited and greeted each of her guests. As you can tell, the theme was "Clowns".

Quite a few social gatherings have happened here and many weekly breakfast meetings.

Aquaduct

The aquaduct is one of my favorite features. Can't wait to get the pump hooked up for the water.

Rancho Don Pedro now

This is how the house at Rancho Don Pedro looked two weeks ago when we were there.
