Milk Glass Punch Bowl
Last Friday I made a trip to Brenham, Texas
for some antique and collectibles shopping.
While my husband played golf with his
Aggie buddies (see yesterday's post)
I enjoyed time with Aggie wives... some of us
friends for over 40 years!
In one of the shops I found a milk glass punch
bowl that just said, "Buy me"!
I am finding out that it was probably not that
great of a deal. It does have twelve cups with it
though and that is a big plus.
The whole point is it is to remind me of the
very nice punch bowl my mother had
when I was growing up.
My mother's was a thick milk glass punch
bowl. Hopefully someday I will find one
like it.
Anyhow... I am still pleased with my
$80.. yes, $80 purchase.
One saving grace, the proceeds from the shop's
sales go to support a local half-way house
for people with addiction problems.

Love the punch bowl and I would have paid that too:) A memory is worth more than the money!
Thanks for letting me know that you updated the reunion post with more details! Sounds like you all had a wonderful time!
HUGS!
I think collecting is all about what touches out hearts or connects us to a special time in our life or someones we love. It's very nice too. I have missed you! Welcome home :D
Karen,
The price might be a little high, but it's just what you wanted and sometimes it's okay to spend a little more. I'm a big fan of milk glass and this set just beautiful!
Blessings,
Linda
Oh, Karen...that's just so gorgeous! I've been looking for something like that...I just adore milk glass!
What a wonderful thing that it reminds you of your mother's...I love that picture of her all ready to be a hostess for the evening...just beautiful!
Hope you're having a lovely first of November, my friend!

I love that you have a picture of Mom and the punch bowl. We had one too. I'm not sure what happened to it. Beautiful blog. I used Karen Valentine too. She is so talented. It is lovely here!

Karen,
I do love milk glass. Both pieces are lovely.
Sounds like a fun time with friends and a real treasure to take home!
It's beautiful! My Dad's wife has one, and all the cups and hooks too. I'm not a punch bowl person, but I love hers and yours is stunning! Happy White Wednesday tami from the high street cottage
I love Milk Glass too and remember it fondly from my own childhood, along with Jadeite... didn't every 1950's household have it? *wink* And now we wish we'd asked our Parents to save it for us *le sigh*. Like you I have thankfully found some Vintage Found Treasures of the beloved pieces we fondly remember growing up with. The irony being that this generation adores it too and it holds up much better than modern pieces... thankfully there is still a fair amount of it available for future generations to use and enjoy. I hope you are able to discover and acquire the style of Punch Set your Mama had!!!

My grandmother was the one with the milk glass collection in our family - guess it skipped a generation since I collect it now :) Great find on the punch bowl!
I love milk glass too. My collection started from one milk glass plate my grandmother had. Memories make everything more special!
It's a beautiful bowl. Why don't you feel it was a good buy? Sometimes the more transparent glass is better. I'm looking for M.G. Plates.

Oh wow, that is so beautiful! My Gramma had one of those too in a little set she would bring out for birthdays... And that price, wow. I am glad it went toward a good cause though.
Love your post! Stopping by from White Wednesday!
I think it a bargain at that price, good for you!
That is gorgeous. And as long as you love it who cares how much it cost. Besides, I don't see those very often, so they must be somewhat rare.
I love it, and its the memory that counts. Finds are all about what they're worth to you.
Hi Karen!
I love milk glass! And oh gosh, you reminded me that my mom had a milk glass punch bowl set - I had completely forgotten about it. I'll have to see if I can find it! :)
Your set is just gorgeous! Enjoy!
Happy VTT,
Sally
Thank you for your lovely wishes for our 42nd Anniversary!
I think that you will enjoy the lovely milk glass punch bowl. Isn't it wonderful how things like that bring back sweet memories of our childhood? Glad you were able to find it! Sounds like you had a wonderful reunion with some very special friends. There's nothing like being friends for 40 years!
Oh Karen, I know, when you see something that says, bye me, you do it! I know from being with you while you are shopping! Fun to see! I love your punch bowl, it's beautiful. Collecting is just the best ever! I can't wait to see your antique place!
Hugs,
Nancy
As long as the bowl reminds you of your mother's, it doesn't have to be the same.
Our memories are priceless, so any price you pay for a little bit of your childhood is worth it.
Not a bad price for this beautiful punch bowl. And it evokes a great memory for you too! It is lovely. Happy VTT!
Karen....I am loving this milkglass punch bowl. Simply gorgeous and I am thinking not so bad a deal at $80.
Blessings!
Gail
It's a wonderful punch bowl that obviously brings back the sweetest of memories--therefore worth every penny!
The photograph of your mother reminds me so much of my mother. I have a similar one of her ladling punch from a cut-glass punch bowl. I'm going to pull it out for a "visit".
Best,
Bonnie
I have the same punch bowl set. I loved the fact that it had a pedestal to elevate the bowl. I bought mine at a yard sale but I am not going to tell you what I paid since you paid $80 for yours!! I think it is worth the $80 but I got it for a steal!!
Debbie
What a wonderful pieces to remind you of memories. Good luck in finding a thick milk glass one like your mothers. TFS
Fabulous punch bowl, no matter the cost...as long as it makes your feel good! You Mom's smile is so pretty in this photograph, and I adore her pink sheer apron. How elegant!
