Pewter Teapot from China
My husband's relatives were missionaries in China in the early 1930's. When war broke out there they were forced to leave and return home. They brought this teapot with them.
I feel fortunate that my husband inherited it.
I invision the work his relatives were doing and how they must have felt having to leave.
I wish I knew more about that period of time there
so if anyone has input, please comment.
I'm early with Show and Tell Friday
at My Romantic Home,
but my schedule is a little crazy these days.

Karen,
It is beautiful! What a treasure and piece of family history, too!
Thank you so very much for your kind comment after visiting the blog tonight. I’m so glad that someone else out there calls/called their father, DADDY. I think of it as such an endearing term. His little pencil holder is really a special work of craftsmanship, and I love it.

A beautiful pot and how interesting that would have been to be there at that time in history! Come say hi :D
I don't know anything about that period but that is such a nice piece.

I know what you mean by hectic schedule. The last two weeks have been a whirlwind for me...and I'm supposed to be retired! I'm so behind in reading my blogs so by now hopefully you are feeling better. And I do think NyQuil works!
Hi Karen...
Wow! What a lovely teapot.. I'm sorry to hear about the missionary's story.
Huggies,
Spencer
Such a treasure of family history. I'm so glad it's with someone that truly appreciates how special it is!

From this article, it looks like your husband's relatives may have been fleeing the confusion of the first part of the war between the Communists and the Nationalist parties over control of China. This war started in the late 1920s, took a break for WWII and resumed afterwards. Somewhere in the middle of the whole thing, the Japanese invaded China, which may have been a factor as well. Hope this sheds some light.
Hi Karen,
Such a lovely teapot, and with such meaning behind it...a treasure!
