White Wednesday - Jean's white chair

Jean's white chair

If you have followed my blog in the past you may remember that we called my grandmother by her first name, "Jean"... her request as she felt that she was much too young to be a grandmother.
Oh well...
This beautiful chair was in her living room for many years and was located near the fireplace.
I loved this chair.
Jean knew that, so in later years when she was well into her late 80's, she made sure that everyone
knew who the chair was to go to...

It's been a bit of family joke that Jean was so
insistant that I get the chair that she wrote
my name on the back of it. Yikes!!
I need to have the chair recovered but all
joking aside... I can never bring myself to have
my name removed from the back.
I guess if you really believe in something,
it's best to have your thoughts cut in stone.

My Big Mamma (since she was the Momma of our Mamas she had to be the BIG Mama) put our names on everything too. It's a very loving thing they did.

So sweet of Jean to write your name on the chair! My Daddy gave me many items before he passed away that he wanted me to have. I took him to the doctor a lot and he would give me little trinkets along the way "kinda" as payment for my time which was totally not necessary. I guess it made him feel good and I certainly treasure each item:)

Have a blessed day my friend! HUGS!

How sweet that your Grandmother chose you to receive her chair. I was very close to my Grandmother and she had an antique card table that I always admired. One day, she told me, "I want you to take that table now, so I'll be sure you'll have it." I was so thrilled, not because it was a beautiful vintage item, but because it was given out of love. :)
I'm sure you feel the same way too.

Oh My - your post just brought tears to my eyes!! How special ~ for her to want so badly for you to have your chair that she wrote your name on it!! There is something about seeing a departed loved one's handwriting that just takes my breath away!
